SWAP stands for Student Welfare Association Portsmouth.
The slogan is “Let’s rise together.”
SWAP exists to enhance the well-being and prospects of students and alumni of the University of Portsmouth, and potentially collaborate with students and alumni globally in the future.
Any enrolled student at the University of Portsmouth can become an Associate Member.
Proposed amendments must be submitted in writing to the Steering Body, discussed in a general meeting, and documented and communicated to members promptly.
SWAP is committed to going paperless, promoting eco-friendly practices, and supporting green initiatives to minimize its ecological footprint.
Associate Members can participate in association activities, attend events, and access resources.
Upon completing their studies, Associate Members automatically transition to Members.
Spouses and children of association members are also eligible for membership, with proof of relationship required.
Individuals or corporate entities outside the university area that join SWAP to offer job opportunities, mentorship, or financial support.
Partners engage in formalized partnerships with SWAP, involving mutual support, collaborative initiatives, and shared goals.
SWAP is overseen by a Steering Body of five esteemed members and led by an Executive Team responsible for daily operations.
SWAP operates as a charitable company under the Companies Act 2006 and is incorporated as a company limited by guarantee.
A general meeting will be convened, members will vote on the dissolution proposal, and if approved, the association will wind down its affairs and distribute remaining assets to a charitable cause aligned with student welfare or education.
